Green Home Loans
GWe offer special programs to help you invest in making your home more energy efficient and sustainable. This can save you money in the long run while helping the environment.
These loans can be used to finance:
-
Heating & Cooling Systems (HVAC) like air-source and geothermal heat pumps
-
Solar energy installations, on your property or through community solar
-
Insulation improvements
-
Energy effiencent windows, lighting or insulation
Maximum loan amounts and rates are dependent on credit score. Some loans located in Western New York are eligible for a lower rate through a NYSERDA Credit Enhancement program.
Genesee Co-op also offers special rates for purchasing electric, hybrid electric, and energy efficient cars. Please inquire with a loan officer.
State and Federal Incentives
While these upgrades may seem out of reach, state and federal & tax credits can make investing in green upgrades for your home affordable -- no matter your income. It especially makes sense if it is time for you to replace a furnace or appliance anyway. The limited extra cost can often payback quickly, and our low-cost loans can help you save money compared to financing less efficient upgrades!
You can find information on various grants and tax credits on this New York State Website:

"I joined the credit union when they first opened on Monroe Avenue. I wanted to build an account with a financial institution. I saw that they were new and I was starting new - so I thought it would be a good start! They were nice and courteous people. After they moved to South Avenue I wanted to buy a new car and they helped me with that and I have taken out personal loans with them too. They're more personal, a bank doesn't know you from the next 500 people. I always recommend them to people. The credit union looks at the things happening in your life and works with you. They know that people don't fail because they are not working on their life. Sometimes things just happen. I would like to get my next mortgage through them. I love them, they just fit my needs."
